Don't sit down immediately after using the toilet; and use air conditioning to maintain men's health in summer.

**Don't sit down immediately after using the toilet.**

When it comes to urination, almost everyone except infants can do it. However, from a health and disease prevention perspective, how many people can honestly say their urination method is scientific? So, what exactly constitutes a scientific urination method?

First, let's briefly understand the physiological process of urination. During urination, the parasympathetic nervous system is excited, the bladder detrusor muscle contracts, and the sphincter relaxes. The entire process is completed in a calm state. Therefore, some men experience difficulty urinating in public restrooms due to nervousness. In this case, they should relax, take a few deep breaths, and urination will naturally become smoother. It's best not to strain while urinating, especially for middle-aged and elderly men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), as this can increase abdominal pressure and worsen symptoms. If you cannot completely empty your bladder, you can massage your lower abdomen or gently squeeze the perineum between the scrotum and anus with your fingers. This not only helps expel residual urine but is also beneficial for those with prostatitis. After urinating, it's best not to sit down immediately. After urination, the internal and external urethral sphincters close, forming a closed cavity in the prostatic urethra. Sitting down immediately increases the pressure within this cavity, potentially causing urine reflux and triggering prostatitis. Drivers should pay particular attention to this.

How often should you urinate? A normal male urinates on average once every two hours during the day, for a total of 4-6 times; ideally, he should urinate once at night after falling asleep, but this depends on individual circumstances. Excessive water intake and mental stress can cause frequent urination; while excessive sweating can reduce urination frequency-these are all physiological phenomena. Don't hold your urine. If possible, urinating every hour is good to flush out toxins. Furthermore, many people believe that washing hands frequently before meals and after using the toilet is sufficient, but this is incomplete. Washing hands before using the toilet is, in some ways, more beneficial than washing hands afterward, as it can effectively prevent various male urinary and reproductive tract infections.

**Summer Care for Men: The "Air Conditioner"**

The male scrotum has a temperature-regulating function, acting like an "air conditioner" to regulate the temperature of the entire reproductive organ and protect the healthy development of sperm. However, experts remind you that even this "air conditioner" needs maintenance in the summer.

Guo Jun, director of the Department of Andrology at Xiyuan Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, explained that male gonads require a low-temperature environment to produce sperm. Therefore, like other mammals, humans have an external "sac"-the scrotum-to provide a lower temperature for the testicles. First, the scrotal skin is very sensitive to external temperatures and has abundant sweat glands instead of subcutaneous fat, which helps dissipate heat. Second, when the external temperature increases, the scrotal skin relaxes, increasing the surface area for heat dissipation, which is beneficial for local heat dissipation. In addition, the arteries in the spermatic cord are wrapped around a bundle of parallel veins, forming a countercurrent exchange system, where venous blood continuously carries away the heat from the arterial blood in the abdominal cavity.

The ideal temperature for sperm production and survival is 1-2°C lower than normal body temperature (37.3°C). Sperm production ceases when the testicular temperature rises to 38°C; when the temperature of mature sperm rises to 40°C, the proteins within them coagulate and die, much like a raw egg being cooked.
